Richie Kotzen has revealed that he virtually joined 9 Inch Nails, however the alternative was cruelly taken away when his glam metallic previous caught up with him.
“The closest band that I ever got here to becoming a member of was 9 Inch Nails – and no one is aware of that,” Kotzen tells Australia’s Sizzling Metallic Magazine. “It is a true one.
“I used to be pleasant with the bass participant from Marilyn Manson [Jeordie Osbourne White, a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez], who was taking part in in 9 Inch Nails. He mentioned to me, ‘Pay attention, you have to come down – we’re having a tough time discovering a guitar participant’. So I went right down to Third Encore [a rehearsal studio in North Hollywood] and I spent the day.
“Trent advised me ‘You are by far the most effective man that we have tried, like to have you ever within the band I’ll have my supervisor attain out to you’. I left that day considering, ‘Wow, OK, I’ll be part of one other band!”
Sadly, Reznor’s tentative supply of employment was withdrawn after Kotzen’s glam metallic previous was taken under consideration.
“Per week glided by,” continues the Poison/Mr Large/Vineyard Canine/Smith-Kotzen man. “Then one other week glided by. I bumped into Jeordi and mentioned ‘what occurred?’
“Principally he [Renzor] mentioned he did not wish to open up Rolling Stone journal and see ‘9 Inch Nails will get former Poison guitar participant Richie Kotzen’. He did not need the affiliation with a hair metallic band in that camp.”
Kotzen, who was a member of Poison from 1991 to 1993 and performed on the band’s fourth album Native Tongue, says that whereas he understood Reznor’s reasoning, he was upset as a result of he liked 9 Inch Nails’ work a lot, and even supplied to work beneath an alias.
