Observe Premiere: Burndy – “Static”

Going again to the early ’80s, Chicago has an extended repute for noisy industrial rock. The house of Contact & Go and Wax Trax! Data, town has churned out many years of aggressive, edgy bands. New trio, Burndy, follows that custom in unconventional style, as illuminated on their new single. “Static,” taken from their upcoming self-titled debut. The monitor is a sluggish builder, that’s terse and nervous with massive Pleasure Division power and a facet of Sonic Youth. Burndy’s distinctive lineup—Jessie Ambriz (bass), Sally Sachs (bassoon), and Megan Emish (electrical ukulele/vocals)—creates a darkish, paranoid vibe on the music with minimal instrumentation.

Burndy was produced by Megan Emish and Sanford Parker. It was recorded at Electrical Audio and Hypercube Studios in October 2023, and engineered and combined by Sanford Parker. Mastered by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room Mastering. It’s set to be self-released on vinyl and digitally on Could 2. Place your preorder right here. Try the stay dates beneath.

Megan had this to say in regards to the monitor:

“This music is about feeling like your mind is on edge and your tooth are going with it. You understand it received’t finish properly however you may’t cease it or calm it down. It retains constructing. Extra static. Extra noise. Extra outrage. It overcomes you. When (if?) you make it by, every part modifications.”
