New & Noteworthy J-pop of the Week (March 16, 2025)

In reference to my want to completely sustain with the J-pop business, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been lined on the weblog already, however my hope is that this may turn into a one-stop store for anybody eager about what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available in: I’m one particular person with one set of musical preferences, so please embed another new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we are able to get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And identical to I do with my opinions, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. This may largely apply to Johnny’s teams, who nonetheless restrict nearly all of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

2023-2024 Index

2025 Index: Dec 29 – Jan 11 // Jan 12 – Jan 18 // Jan 19 – Jan 25 // Jan 26 – Feb 1 // Feb 2 – Feb 8 // Feb 9 – Feb 15 // Feb 16 – Feb 22 // Feb 23 – Mar 1 // Mar 2 – Mar 8

Ado – Bouquet For Me

Fairly punchy and anthemic. I like this one.

Aina The Finish – Peerless Flowers

It’s all the time good to listen to her voice.

AsIs – Tejo o Kowase! (track of the week!)

I’ve by no means heard of this group earlier than however this track impressed me. I really like the punchy brassiness of it.

ATARASHII GAKKO! – One Coronary heart

They’re as much as their quirky tips once more. This isn’t for me, however I’m certain it’s for somebody.

East Of Eden – IKIZAMA

A stable rock track with nice vocals.

Fantastics – Funktastic! (track of the week!)

I really like this 90’s funky home sound. The track itself might be higher, however general it’s a ton of enjoyable.

GNJB – LLL

This can be a very slick, subdued sound for them. I choose them at their extra adventurous, however the track is good. It feels very Showa period.

King & Prince – Coronary heart (track of the week!)

This sounds extra like Koi Furu Tsukiyo ni Kimi Omou than we’ve heard in years and I’m contemplating {that a} victory. The video can be lots of enjoyable.

Man With A Mission – Vertigo (track of the week!)

Man With A Mission are lastly again with a brand new EP! That is very stable rock monitor. I really like the verses, particularly.

OWV – Swish

I completely love the primary thirty seconds. The remaining is fairly good however not precisely what I’d hope to listen to from the manufacturing. Then, the “swish swish” half is downright terrible.

Ryosuke Yamada – Purple

That is no less than extra fascinating than his different solo tracks, however it’s nonetheless extra posturing than track if that is sensible. I just like the bigness of the refrain, although.

Sekai No Owari – Kohaku

I really like this band a lot, however I’m disillusioned that it is a reasonably muted ballad. It’s well-written, however not what I like most about their music.

SennaRin – Reviver-Lv.1007

A slower burn for her.

ukka – Journey To The Sky

Quirky and enjoyable.

Wolf Howl Concord – BAKUON

I like this extra in concept than execution. I want we heard extra of their vocals. It’s undoubtedly a wierd monitor.

XG – Is This Love

I wrote about this right here. I appreciated it alright.

KIX-S – Mou Ichido Tenderness (1993)

There’s a sentiment and energy to early-90’s J-pop that simply can’t be replicated. KIX-S have been a superb feminine duo of the period and it is a complete banger.
