Victon’s Lim Sejun kicks off his solo profession underneath a brand new company. He’s considered one of a handful of artists to signal to Howdy Gloom and from20’s Method Higher, turning the once-fledgling firm right into a boutique company. His first single Summer time takes benefit of those new connections, co-written/produced by each Howdy Gloom and from20. In Okay-pop’s present panorama of thirteen-outsourced-producers-on-one-song, it’s good to listen to one thing that feels a bit extra pure.
Summer time arrives simply forward of the season, providing a surging, sentimental mix of pop and rock. The music harnesses Method Higher’s knack for a superb melody, cresting in an anthemic burst of highly effective vocals adopted by an equally catchy instrumental riff. Sejun’s voice really sounds quite a bit like FTIsland’s Lee Hong-gi right here. This structural method isn’t new. You would throw a stone within the route of any indie pop band and listen to comparable fare. However for Okay-pop, Summer time is refreshing counterprogramming that can seemingly stand the check of time. I’m excited to see the place this crew takes Sejun’s music subsequent.
