Of all of the life adjustments Susto’s Justin Osborne has navigated in recent times, parenthood tops the listing. “As a touring musician, I’m at all times coming and going, and it may be robust to stability work and household life,” says Osborne. “I wrote ‘By no means Shedding Me’ for my daughter—who was three on the time—as a message she might mirror on later in life. Now, as a father of two, it’s a manner for me to really feel near them each time I sing it.”
Talking of life adjustments, Susto Stringband: Quantity 1 (New West) drops March 28. Produced by Ryan Stigmon at Mitch Easter’s Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville, N.C., the album is a collaboration between Osborne and the homey North Carolina bluegrass/Americana outfit Holler Choir. Although seven of its 9 tracks are reworked Susto tunes, “By no means Shedding Me” was written by Osborne particularly for the undertaking.
“The music suits completely with the bouncing whimsy heard in old-time music throughout the nation,” say Holler Choir’s Clint Roberts. “The melody Justin got here up with jogs my memory of information I grew with on idyllic Sunday mornings in Appalachia, driving on slim, winding nation roads.”
We’re proud to premiere Susto Stringband’s “By no means Shedding Me.”
