Stella And The Very Messed’s new single walks the tightrope between confession and deflection. “No one likes being lied to, however there may be such a factor as overburdening these round you along with your reality—particularly when it’s delivered with out consideration of its impression,” says frontwoman Stella Helms. “I are likely to encompass myself with of us who’re emotionally mature, so I wasn’t seeking to write a tune about somebody who rejects the accountability of self-evaluation and says issues like, ‘I’m simply being trustworthy.’”
A taught tour de drive of pumping keyboards and guitar-driven grrrl-rock ’tude, “Lack Of Secrets and techniques” is the second salvo from the Austin quintet’s upcoming LP, Large Acquainted, obtainable Sept. 19 through Double Helix. The band grew out of the artistic bond Helms fashioned with David Hawkins throughout their 11 or so years with the modestly profitable pop-punk Cruiserweight. To date, that bond has been unshakable.
“Dave had a heavy hand within the closing synth-forward course of ‘Lack Of Secrets and techniques,’” says Helms. “He was listening to a number of Graveyard Membership—and we’re at all times listening to Metric.”
We’re proud to premiere Stella And The Very Messed’s “Lack Of Secrets and techniques.”
