MAGNET Unique: Premiere Of Spaceface’s “Be Right here Without end” Video

If there’s a unifying theme to Spaceface’s new LP, it’s about savoring moments of caprice and absurdism in an impersonal world—the form of world that “desires to translate your love and artwork into loveless knowledge,” says Jake Ingalls, co-founder of the Los Angeles-based neo-psych collaborative.

Fashioned in 2011, the unique Spaceface featured two former members with ties to the Flaming Lips: roadie/guitarist Ingalls and guitar tech Matthew Sturdy. Nevertheless it’s Ingalls and Eric Martin who’ve been the essential frequent denominator by way of three albums. Spaceface’s newest, Lunar Manor, is ready for launch August 22 on Mothland.

“Spaceface has sometimes been a giant collaborative effort that in the end will get filtered by way of my lens,” says Ingalls. “For this document, we made the acutely aware determination to present Eric the reigns. That is probably the most ‘Eric Martin’ Spaceface has ever been, and it’s made this effort probably the most relaxed and enjoyable to do.”

“Be Right here Without end,” the follow-up single to Spaceface’s funked-up variation on the Verve’s well-traveled “Bitter Candy Symphony,” was impressed by a pair of twin obsessions. “It’s a synthesis of what the 2 of us love probably the most. Eric loves—and typically writes and learns—Burt Bacharach-style music in his free time. I like (synth pioneer) Wendy Carlos and felt significantly impressed by her Switched-On collection.”

The video neatly bundles up Lunar Mansion’s joy-at-all-costs mission assertion in a strikingly efficient visible of a bartender dancing his method by way of a shift. “It could possibly suck to point out up early and try this form of work, day in and day trip,” says Ingalls. “There’s an influence to reclaiming that point as your personal. That was the imaginative and prescient for the video.”

We’re proud to premiere Spaceface’s “Be Right here Without end” video.
