Jasmine Cruickshank, who performs as Jasmine.4.t, walked away from a songwriting workshop — led by none aside from Adrianne Lenker — with a key piece of knowledge: Artistic endeavors should begin from a spot of acceptance.

That is one thing the British singer-songwriter had been battling simply earlier than she got here out as trans and commenced her gender-affirming transition.

“As quickly as I got here out, all of those songs which are on the file … began pouring out of me,” she says.

That file, referred to as You Are The Morning, explores the thrill of being a trans girl, like falling in love with one other trans individual for the primary time.
