Richmond, VA noise rock lovers Prayer Group have chosen an obscure format for his or her newest mini-album launch, Strawberry, going with a vinyl 10″ file to include their seven songs of musical abrasion. Strawberry is suitably adorned with an equally weird cowl—a tot topped with a berry for a head, that’s undoubtedly not a strawberry—that may be a good illustration of the quartet’s tension-filled, skronky rock. Followers of Huge Black and ’90s AmRep sludge will discover loads to love right here, as Prayer Group—Matt Voegel (vocals), Nate Dominy (guitar), Anthony Stout (drums), Carl Kranz (bass/ vocals)—do their finest to disturb and harm with their sonic sturm und drang.
Strawberry was recorded by guitarist Dominy at Room 2B (with drums and a few bass tracked with Ricky Olson at The Ward). The blending was dealt with by Chris Compton, and mastering accomplished by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege. It’s set for launch on 10″ vinyl and digitally through Reptilian Information on August 29. You’ll be able to preorder it right here and right here. And take a look at the stay dates (posted beneath) deliberate following the discharge
The band had this statement about its new file:
“Strawberry is a bizarre child of a file – a bit easy, caught in an in-between measurement, and with some temper swings. It’s unsure why it’s right here, and it’s pissed about it.”
