Earlier this week, Rick Derringer handed away at age 77 following years of well being struggles. Now, his outdated bandmate Edgar Winter shared a eulogy for the legendary guitarist and songwriter.

Derringer performed in Edgar Winter’s White Trash and the Edgar Winter Group. Derringer produced and performed guitar on the Edgar Winter Group’s #1 hit “Frankenstein.” Right here’s what Winter wrote on social media along with his spouse Monique:

Whats up all,

I write this with a heavy coronary heart, but one stuffed with so many reminiscences. Yesterday (on Could twenty sixth) I misplaced a pricey buddy and bandmate, and the world misplaced one of many biggest guitarists and writers in Rock ‘n’ Roll. Rick Derringer!

Rick was one of the vital gifted, versatile, and adaptable guitarists I ever had the glory and pleasure of working with. He was a kindred spirit who Beloved and understood all music, however particularly Johnny’s and mine.

No matter type I selected to put in writing in (blues, rock, R&B, nation, or jazz) Rick at all times discovered one thing cool to contribute and related to say. A real artist and inventive collaborator.

His optimistic power each on and offstage with our bands—“Johnny Winter And”, “White Trash”, and “The Edgar Winter Group” gave us (and the world) moments to treasure forever.

Rick is now up there with Johnny — in Rock ‘n ‘ Roll Blue Heaven! I look as much as them each with timeless Love and admiration. Monique and I say farewell for now, however by no means perpetually.

Peace and Love,

Edgar & Monique
