Final month Margo Value introduced her new album Arduous Headed Girl and provided the assured anthem “Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down” as a preview. Now she’s teaming up with fellow singer-songwriter Jesse Welles for the dream-filled new single “Don’t Wake Me Up.”
“This track started as a poem a couple of years in the past and was initially impressed by poet Frank Stanford,” Value explains. She continued:
My husband and co-writer, Jeremy Ivey, discovered the concept I had scribbled from my deserted pocket book, and we resurrected it with a melody. The entire thing got here collectively in ten minutes in a kind of lightning bolt moments the place you’re tapped into one thing larger than your self. I wished to remind folks of all of the locations and ways in which we’re nonetheless allowed to dream even when the skin world looks as if a nightmare.
Jesse Welles is one among my favourite new songwriters and a uncommon prolific artist who actually has one thing to say. I met him at Farm Assist and I turned an enormous fan of his lyrics in addition to his voice. I’m so grateful he may be a part of me to sing on this track.
Locations the place Value goals in “Don’t Wake Me Up”: Waffle Home, a liquor retailer, a graveyard, a trailer park, a snowstorm, a two star sushi bar, a cantina, a bowling alley, and lots of different settings. It’s very enjoyable. Pay attention beneath.
Arduous Headed Girl is out 8/29 on Loma Vista.
